The Chinese manufacturer has significantly increased its presence on the continent in recent years and is now clearly regarded as a leading player in the market for battery-electric buses. In the first half of 2026, 1,636 Yutong electric buses were registered in European countries, compared with 852 vehicles in the same period of the previous year, meaning the company has effectively doubled its first-half volume. Yutong’s rise is not driven solely by price levels that are generally more favourable than those of its European competitors: the Chinese manufacturer is competing with large production capacity, short and reliable delivery times, mature electric driveline technology, and a European sales and after-sales network that has been significantly strengthened in recent years. For a long time, the country was among the more difficult European markets for Chinese manufacturers to penetrate, but in recent years a clear shift has also begun in passenger cars: Chinese brands accounted for around 2.4 percent of new-car registrations in 2024, rising to roughly 3.4 percent in 2025, and increasing further at the beginning of 2026. This is precisely why Yutong’s current arrival in Switzerland can be seen as a milestone. The three-axle electric bus, nearly 14 metres long, can carry 57 passengers in addition to the driver and tour guide. Its equipment is in line with that of a conventional long-distance coach: a toilet, coffee machine, refrigerator, power sockets at every seat, onboard Wi-Fi and screens are all provided.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F08\u002F1787793487590.jpeg\">\u003Cimg loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-95547\" src=\"https:\u002F\u002Fmedia.magyarbusz.info\u002F2026\u002F08\u002F1787793487590.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" title=\"\" \u002F>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify\">The energy required to power the T14E is stored in a CATL traction battery system using LFP chemistry, with a total capacity of 621 kWh, which EUROBUS says provides a range of up to 500 kilometres, citing the manufacturer’s data. By using two charging connectors simultaneously, the vehicle is capable of fast charging at up to 300 kW, allowing energy to be replenished more quickly between longer journeys or during rest breaks en route despite the high-capacity battery. The safety of the energy storage system is ensured by Yutong’s own YESS (Yutong Electric Safety Standard) protection concept, which covers the mechanical, electrical and thermal protection of the battery as well as continuous monitoring. Initially, the T14E will primarily be used on shorter transfers, charter services, group trips and day excursions, but passengers may also encounter it on Rustexpress services to Europa-Park.
