After January 1, volanbusz.hu will only be updated for a limited time

The public transport sector is undergoing one of its most significant transformations in decades, set to culminate on December 31, 2024, when Volánbusz Zrt. fully merges into MÁV Személyszállítási Zrt., which is formed from MÁV-Start. This legal integration will bring considerable changes not only in the corporate structure but also in communication channels. The currently formally independent Volánbusz website will be phased out, as from January 1, 2025, all current information will be available on a single central platform, with the bus company’s website being updated only for a limited time thereafter.

Following Volánbusz’s merger on December 31, the communication will be taken over by the newly registered MÁV Személyszállítási Zrt., which will officially be established on January 1, along with MÁV Zrt., the group’s parent company. Consequently, Volánbusz’s main communication channel, volanbusz.hu, will eventually be „shut down.” Furthermore, according to our information, Volánbusz’s Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn channels will also be discontinued.

From January 1, Volánbusz passengers will find current travel information, including both bus and rail services, on the MÁV group’s central website, www.mavcsoport.hu. While the official Volánbusz website will no longer be updated in the future, it will remain accessible in an archived form for a limited time to assist passengers, although it will not serve any significant functional purpose.
